I picked up take out for my work the ojher day and it was seafood. I put it in my trunk and when I opened the trunk to take the bags out I realized that one of the bags tipped over and some "fish juice" had spilled in the trunk of my NEW car!! I washed it with a carpet cleaner, did not work, sprayed febreeze, did not work, finally I got it detailed. The smell is still there not as bad as before but my whole car REAKS!! I have car fragrances for the good smell all over my car! I need help?? Can anyone give me an idea that WILL WORK?? I cannot stand the smell anymore!

Try the cheap fix first, baking soda, lots of it. If that doesn’t help, you will have to replace the carpeting.

I would say either a powdered carpet fresh that you can sprinkle on and let sit for a while or baking soda… let it soak in for a few days….

Simple green is a powerful concentrated cleaner and happens to take out odors as well. I have used on many horrible stains and odors and this stuff works like a charm. For a tough smell like fish do not dilute it, just use full strength and spray the entire car down, paying close attention to where the smell was

You can buy simple green at most stores like Target, Kmart as well as local auto parts places

Trunk carpet is remarkably tough stuff. Mine (light tan) was very dirty. I took it out of the car and gave it the works with a garden hose, both sides. Then I dribbled hair shampoo on it, scrubbed that with a soft nylon broom, and rinsed again with the garden hose. Then dried in the sun. Came up like new. Try it, you will lose nothing except perhaps the smell.

But first, take the carpet out of the car and leave it out. Park the car for a while with the windows down to remove any smell that might have migrated into it.

I bought a semi truck which had a cigar smoker driving it for 5 years and being a non-smoker is nauseated me. I found a spray on product at a Auto/truck stop. such as Petro, FlyingJ,TA, called OdorBan or something similar to take. Cost was about $3.95. I sprayed it on all the fabric surfaces and a week later there was no more smoke smell. Taking the mat out to dry and air out would help too.Good luck. GH
