Californians, what do you think of the new calorie, fat and sodium labeling on restaurant menus?
I know the restaurants fought against this tooth and nail, but I’m glad it passed.
I have been ordering much more healthy items and may even save my health insurer some money over the next decade or so.
Maxwell, it is truly shocking. I knew most restaurant items were full of fat and calories, but I wayyyyy underestimated the content. It is horrifying.
Kevin B: It only applies to restaurants with more than 20 outlets in the state….so big chain restaurants. And yes, many raised their prices, but I saw that coming anyway because of inflation.
it will stop me from ordering the most Unhealthy thing on the menu.
so that’s a good thing.

I think if I’m going out to eat in the first place, I’ve thrown a lot of caution to wind already,
so it wouldn’t change what I ordered.

Your concern for your insurance company’s bottom line is touching.

Good idea.
But I haven’t been to any restaurants that have them on their menus yet.
but seriously, it is appalling how much fat etc. is in some "healthy" sounding dishes.
(the insurance company’s bottom line aside…I just don’t want to end up with a heartattack)

How has it helped anyone? It hasn’t and you’re glad? ha ha. It wont change anything at all but I’m sure the part about adding an unneeded expense to a small business makes Libs happy about it since they hate business anyway.

I’m glad it’s there too – I had no idea – you literally get a full day’s worth of calories in most restaurant meals.

Yes, keep piling on regulations and taxes that are encouraging businesses and the wealthy to flee your State in droves. And keep up the compassionate approach to providing an even more generous level benefits to the poor which is a magnet to illegal aliens who sap your resources. Have you noticed any trends in the fiscal health of California? Ever wonder why?
