How Authentic is Americanized Indian Food?
I’m doing a paper for my soc. class. I’d like to know from Indian people, or those who’ve been there, how authentic is the Indian food we eat here in California vs the real stuff? What are the similarities/differences?
Thanks for helping me out.
if you’re not Indian or haven’t been to India, you’re not really helping by adding a random, unrelated opinion.
Hey!
I can help I’m Indian and have been to India.
In Cali, the restaurants I have been to do have a very similar taste to the food in India. Such as Curry the Curry in the restaurants tastes very good, but in India there is something in there, idk what but it gives this taste that you just can’t explain. I’ve also had Chunnai Patore (sp?) and that basically tastes the same in both India and Cali. Usually the expensive restaurants here in Cali aren’t really worth it, the small restaurants have much better food. They also have really good sweets, but once again the sweets are better in India. Mainly Cali’s food is 2.5/5 similar to India.
I am thinking it is about as authentic as Taco Bell is with Mexican food.
Ps. I hate Taco Bell but I love Mexican Food.
