Why do people like Indian cuisine, and why is it so popular?
Just out of curiosity, I’m interested to know why other cuisine styles such as Chinese and Thai are so popular too. I’m doing some personal research.
Indian food is very tasty, spicy, and healthy. Alot of the spices, and herbs used in Indian cooking and most of the cooking in that region, such as Pakistani, Thai, Indonesian, almost all Middle Eastern Foods have healing properties. In addition to, the desserts are so sweet and different than what we are used to in the US. I married a Pakistani man 24 years ago, and my pallet has been introduced to sooo many great tasting dishes. We eat Pakistani or indian food about 70% of the time. Typical American food really becomes bland once you get a taste of spice.

Just because it tastes good to us? And a lot of people are raised eating that stuff.

I think people like it in the US because it has flavor to it, our standard meat and potatoes and canned spaghetti that I grew up with got pretty tiresome after awhile. Spice is nice!

Because it tastes good and it is something different. The desserts (eg: gulab jamun) are excellent!

Because it has many different flavors which are different to the average American dish. It’s great to taste different foods so that you don’t eat the same thing over and over again. Also that most asian dishes really bring out the vegetable flavors to make various types of dishes while most American cooked vegetables are plain such as steamed peas.

I think first reason being they are a lot different from the western cuisines…
People always want to try something new… I am from India and know for a fact that Fried chicken, pizzas and burgers are a big hit there among the younger outgoing generation…
The south east asian cuisine, in general, (chinese, japanese, malaysian, thai, Indian…) are generally a little spicy and utilise a lot fo sauce(curry, etc…)
