Can olive oil be used in Indian Cuisine? How good is Olive oil for the heart?

Olive oil is good for any kind of cooking but remember if your doing any kind of frying you’ll want to add some unsalted butter to bring up the frying point. Because Olive oil is a dark color oil it’s not very good for stuff like deep frying, you’ll be fine if you’re doing sauteing though, if you’re going to be doing deep frying I recommend peanut oil, because it can with stand the hotter temperatures and wont burn like olive oil will. Good luck :)

yes, you can use Olive oil for Indian Cuisine. It is high in mono and polyunsaturated fat, so it’s good for heart compared to other oils high in saturated fat.

Olive oil can be used in any cuisine. Olive oil is very good for your heart, it reduces cholesterol and is filled with vitamin "E".
In my household we only use "Virgin Olive Oil" for all of our cooking and frying. "Virgin Olive Oil" is the best to use.

Olive oil can be used in any cuisine… I don’t see why it would be different for Indian cuisine. I have seen different chefs on television making Indian food that have used olive oil, so I would say go for it.

I know that olive oil is better for your body than most oils. In Cyprus, the average man between 35-60 consumes about 1 cup of olive oil a day, and these men are by far the healthiest in their age group.

I have also read that olive oil helps prevent heart disease as well.

I am another one who cooks almost exclusively with olive oil or fresh butter. The worst thing you can use are cheap heat pressed vegetable oils or margerine! (even lard is better than that!)

Olive oil is much better for the heart than the alternatives as above, but too much oil or fat is still too much, learn to cut it down a bit!

I often use olive oil in my curries and other Indian dishes, but you should use some butter (20-50% of the total) to give it the right flavor….

Olive oil is very healthy for the heart if consummed properly
it’s usually used in salads (1 Tbsp)
it’s also used in cooking like frying onion and garlic for the sauces (1 Tbsp)
but it cannot be used for deep frying and in large amounts.

You should not use olive oil for frying. It is a monounsaturated fat easily oxidized at high heat and loses its beneficial capabilities. Since Indian food typically uses oil for frying, you should go with a more stable oil, like peanut. You can use olive oil to add to the dish after it’s been cooked, where appropriate.

Yes. Olive oil is good for health as it is less fatty than the other vegetable oils.
