The Difference Between Fixed and Drop-Side Cotbeds

A fixed side cotbed is as simple as it sounds, when you have the cotbed in the cot position the 4 sides are fixed in place. Access to your baby is made by leaning over and into the cot. Dropside Cotbeds will have a catch on one side of the cot that will allow you to slide that side down. Although incredibly popular they are not essential and only really recommended if you are particularly petite or have a bad back. A growing trend with parents right now is to have a dropside so that they can lower the side at night and place the cot right next to the bed as it is considered to be a safer form of co-sleeping.
