Whenever I used to take my camera out in front of a stranger/s, I suddenly got conscious. How did I overcome it? I started observing other people. I noticed that most people are awkward with their cameras. Maybe because they didnt want to be disturbed while taking pictures or because they weren't exactly good with the camera. I started asking passerbys to click pictures of me in the park or museum/zoo. This sort of instilled confidence in me(because their pictures weren't that great ;) ). I thought to myself 'hey I am not bad so what am i embarrassed about?' and then i started to wield a camera confidently. Well, its kind of like me and my singing. I love to sing, but get embarrassed when anyone is around. It is a form o stage fright to me. But people take that differently. If you love it don't worry about what others think. Yes, it may take a long time for you to overcome it, but I am working at it too and i am more comfortable now than 2 years ago. You could start out by taking pictures of your family or just when your family is around. take it slow that is the best way to do it.
