Why do some places (usually pizza or other take out food) charge for delivery? Doesn’t the delivery person have to pay for their own gas and maintenance? Where does this extra fee go?

Just like when you buy gasoline with full service instead of self-service, they charge more per gallon because you’re paying extra for someone to do you a service. Pizza delivery drivers are paid by the hour, but it’s usually minimum wage. They then rely on tips from their customers to make the job worth their while. Some places have a dedicated delivery vehicle, too, that they have to pay for, maintain, buy gas for, etc. And, that costs money.

If many places didn’t charge for the delivery, the profit margin would be so low that they wouldn’t make any money. Places like Dominoes make pizzas with such cheap ingredients and in an assembly line process that they can afford to offer free delivery and still turn a profit.

By the way, it’s extremely bad form to not tip your delivery driver. Just like a waiter or waitress does, they rely on those tips for their income.

I live in Australia and I need to have food delivered to my home ASAP cause I have friends coming over and there is nothing in the fridge. Any suggestions and don’t say pizza cause they don’t like it.
And do they deliver Chinese food. If they do can you give me all the details.

chinese food. mustard greens, chop suey, chicken and green beans. some kind of beef. squid, shark fin soup…….or tofu and eggs if shark fin is too expensive. fortune cookies. i have no idea waht chop suey is…….but i think its chinese american.

My friend and I both have the munchies and our local pizza parlor already closed shop for the night. We live in downtown Santa Barbara and need food !

Which kind of food do you prefer? Do you would like to have sandwiches and bakery delivery to your office instead that making queues in you near cafeteria?

Delivery to the office is absolutely a blessing. Sandwiches are nice if they are special… not just basic white bread with meat and lettuce… and hot stuff would be fantastic. Soups, casseroles, and pastas! Most importantly it has to be good and worth the price. I can always call out for delivery but if you regularly came to my office with tasty lunches you’d totally get my business regularly.

What are some services we have in America, that other Countries don’t have?

None. America is not unique with anything. Anything that america has, other countries have and they usually have much better. For example, at mcdonalds in Thailand and Philippines and many other places, they deliver, and burger king too. I have never seen a burger king or mcdonalds in USA that delivers. In USA they have the double filet o fish now. Thailand had this years before USA ever started selling them in american mcdonalds. Its ironic that even american companies in other countries are more advanced over there rather than over here in USA. They also have the double big mac (aka the mega mac, 4 patties), which USA doesnt have. So the delivery options in other countries have always been much better than USA as well as the food.

Anyone know if its possible to use debit card with like fast food delivery?
if so, what places accept this?

You’d have to check with each individual restaurant, some do, some don’t. If they take a credit card over the phone, they should take debit since it works pretty much the same way, but each place has its own policies with cards.

If you mean Kendall, Florida – Try La Caretta- Cuban food – they delivery until around midnight, prices are good and they always have great food!
